Simple Ways to Nowhere

This is my Final Year Collection designed for our Nomadic Wanderers. Your only mantra being Peace, Love and Happiness which transcends you to that perfect conjunction of hedonism and idle oblivion into another place, another time; another world, another life.
This is a pret-a-porter ladieswear range where comfort, versatility and practicality are paramount not forgetting of course sumptuous design aesthetic.

Mophato Dance Theatre

I had the fabulous opportunity to make costumes for Mophato Dance Theatre for their production of Kgosi Kgolo, which was awarded the Pick of the Stepping Stones 2012 Award as part of the 2012 Dance Umbrella in Johannesburg, South Africa

That Great Wedding Nov 2010

Ok, so my brother announced that he intends on getting married and he and his fiancée ever so graciously agreed for me to make the wedding gown.

Naked: Creative Collective

This event, the Naked Creative Collective was held on the 16th May 2009 at Durban City Hall.
The purpose was to raise awareness through creative art forms about HIV and AIDS.
My piece is entitled Virginal Virtues

From the front, all that's seen is a plain baby pink gown flowing down to the floor. This is indicative of the innocence and untainted state of existence with which we are all born. From the back, one gets an extended version of costume corsetry bordering on the obscene. This is in essence the tangle of consequence we as human expressions of life find ourselves after questionable decisions we make during our lives.

Gilded Sands, when time stands still

Greetings, my name is Aobakwe Molosiwa. I am a fashion designer in Gaborone, Botswana having studied in Durban, South Africa (Jan 2008 - Nov 2011)

Here is some textual dabbling which got me to what my brand is today...

Logo thought process:

I am…
…Fluid in motion, undulating with the contours of whatever landscape I find myself in. Easily adapting to the shapes and diverse flavours which get incorporated in me from the interactions living avails yet grounded enough not to forget my molecular structure; who I really am.
Like…
…Water, either rushing through the crevasses of an ocean bed, alive and vivacious; smacking into the shore in effervescent protest. Or the single drop on the lotus leaf which serenely glistens in the breaking dawn, only to drop into the pool below and get incorporated into the stillness and calmness of the pond below.

Brand Philosophy:

Every so often, one finds oneself spellbound in the realms of intangible moments of undeniable enchantment.

Life’s deliciously viscous honeyed wholesomeness peppered with granules so fine they elude the eye,

Strung together encapsulating a gold so pure it glints in the calming splendour of the breaking dawn.

These sands fashioned of the unforgettably golden memoirs which substantiate our existence-

When looked at too closely, they transport one’s imaginings, rendering them transcendental.

When the time-space continuum ceases to make mathematical sense and does not compute-

Time stands still
